The following case studies illustrate just a few of the successful installations achieved with Parthos partitions, offering purpose designed solutions for very specific uses.
Study 1. - Baptist Church in Pengam, Gwent Link
The brief Built in 1907 the buildings size limited it's usefulness to the community. Under the inspiration of the Reverend Phil Johnson a scheme was put forward for grants to double the size of the chapel. With a need to maximise the value of the new hall they needed to separate the old from the new as and when required.
The Solution We were engaged to provide a Palace 110s acoustic movable wall. The wall has centre double opening doors that align with the aisle, particularly useful for weddings and funerals. The finish is a polished ash veneer to match the buildings main doors. The sound reduction is at 50 decibels. When not in use stacking of the panels is nicely concealed. Height 2750mm Width 7570mm after providing two nibs of 1300mm and 1500mm each side.
We understand the result has been an outstanding success with the building in use every day for a variety of functions. They show the full story on the Ebenezer web site. Click on the red Link above. You need to scroll through 75% of the interesting project pictures to see the wall being installed.
Study 2. - Headland Hotel, Link
| The
brief This well
known landmark hotel has spent some £2million refurbishment and has
become an all year round, sought after location. The problem was how to accommodate all
the increasing banquet and conference demand.
The Solution We
were initially pleased to be able to provide the Palace 110s as the solution in
the restaurant and then delighted at being asked back to
install a second Palace in the Ball room. From the picture you will see
priority was to retain the elegant interior of this outstanding Victorian
hotel. With just the top hung track the wall
sections are able to be stored along one side of the room (an alternative to a
normal stacking arrangement) and to be moved into one of two positions so accommodating different sized
functions. The 2 double wicket doors provide ease of access and meets one
of the initial requirements to allow brides to pass through.

Study 3. The Whittington Hospital, NHS Trust
| Study 3. - Paediatric Unit |
| The brief | To
divide a large area in a new extension block into a play and dining
facility with
access via a central linking corridor that was in constant use from routine
and emergency traffic. Visibility and quiet closure to the play area was a pre-requisite. Ease of cleaning and operation were also an important consideration. |
|
| The solution | Two 'Royal' accordion style folding doors from the Parthos range with two clear vertical panels were fitted. These were finished in light oak vinyl surface to withstand knocks from toys and trolleys and easy to clean. As they are suspended from a top track, there is no floor obstruction. The solution was so successful that the Whittington's commissioning engineer recommended the same solution be applied to divide the hospitals gymnasium and physiotherapy reception area. |
Study 4 - College Dining Room
The Brief Under the supervision of a school catering specialists the dining hall at Honiton Community College was to be refurbished to high standards not only for health and hygiene requirements but to make a pleasant environment. As such the specification was to include a folding partition to separate part of the dining area for smaller numbers.
The Solution With an opening span of 8 meters and a 3 meter height we were able to provide the Mono with, in this case, panels of 200mm. All neatly folds back to one end and is suspended from a slim top track. No need for an unhygienic floor track. The chosen finish was an attractive beech laminate providing an easy to clean surface and a pleasant visual impression. The Mono comes as a robust accordion style partition. Exceptionally easy to handle and as a single sided panel is very cost effective.
| Study 5. - Seminar Rooms |
| The brief | To divide three spacious seminar rooms into a potential six room facility as required. Each room is accessed from two wards, so sound proofing was important. Also the facility to stack unobtrusively when a larger space is required was essential. |
|
| The solution | The 'Palace' Acoustic movable wall was recommended and installed. The top hung wall allows unobstructed carpeting throughout the space. Track guidance and stacking was chosen for ease of use. The system also provided optimum acoustic protection allowing better use of the space in a busy teaching hospital. |

6. - Lake Suite Conference rooms
Chewton Glen Hotel, New Milton |
| The brief | To facilitate easy transformation of 198 sqm of conference space into two sound sealed rooms for simultaneous use. | |
| The solution | A stylish application of the 'Palace ' Acoustic movable wall decorated with trompe l'oeil frescoes, dado rail and skirting board, to compliment the details of the rooms interior design. An automatic tracking and stacking system was used, to ensure ease of use and fast transformation. This doubling of facilities has proved a sound financial investment for the hotels conferencing facilities. |
Moulsecoomb County Junior School, Brighton
| Study 7. - New Class base with activity room units |
| The brief | To provide sound reducing folding door installation between activity room and each of two adjoining class bases. In six units. Colour scheme, quality and durability were of prime importance. |
|
| The solution | 'Phonic' Acoustic accordion folding doors were the answer. Top suspended track, so there is no floor level obstructions for young children to trip on. Architect specified colour schemes improved the environment for the children, resulting in improved pupil behaviour. Also good acoustic performance with reduced noise levels between the areas |
